IMPACT: Ifakara researcher among panellists at HSSP 5 inauguration in Dodoma
Ifakara Senior Research Scientist, Dr. Sally Mtenga, was among panellists at the official inauguration of the Health Sector Strategic Plan Five (HSSP 5) in Dodoma on Thursday, June 24th 2021. The event which was officiated by the Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Dr. Dorothy Gwajima, was also attended by Ifakara Chief Executive Director, Dr. Honorati Masanja.
Dr. Sally featured in a special symposium panel discussion for the inauguration event alongside Eric Kitali, the Director ICT from the State Ministry in the Present’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG); Prof Andrea Pembe, Vice Chancellor at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences; and Prof Yunus Mgaya, Ifakara Board member and Director General at the National Institute for Medical Research.
Under the third theme which focused on “Innovation and Research”, Dr. Sally specifically addressed the subtheme: “Science and technology needed to shape health care delivery systems including use of health research results to bring socio-economic development.” Dr. Yahya Ipuge – a Tanzanian Health Systems Planning and Organization advisor with 30 years of experience in all aspects of healthcare – moderated this specific panel discussion.
The HSSP 5 inauguration was also attended by representatives from different non-governmental organizations, other research institutions, medical officers and officials from the ministries of health and PORALG.
