Who we are
Who We Are

A Ugandan research institute shaping the future of healthy aging.

The African Research Centre on Aging and Dementia (ARCAD) is a Ugandan non-profit, non-government collaborative research institute established in 2017 by social gerontologists inspired to advance aging and dementia research in Africa.

ARCAD supports, links, facilitates, and focuses research on aging, dementia, social systems, and health systems that improve the quality of life of elderly Ugandans and older persons across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Through research, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge translation, ARCAD brings together researchers, policy makers, communities, caregivers, and institutions to transform public thinking, strengthen services, and influence policy for older persons.
