ARCAD promotes high-quality investigative research on aging and dementia, helping Uganda and Africa build stronger evidence for planning, budgeting, service development and public policy.
We bring together researchers across disciplines and regions, support documentation and publication, build partnerships, and translate research knowledge into action that improves quality of life for older persons.
While research remains ARCAD’s primary mission, capacity building is central to our growth. We support practical training, mentorship, internships, postgraduate research and skills development within and beyond the institute.
Through our Training Center, research platforms, laboratories, digital library, clinical trial facilities and partner universities, ARCAD provides hands-on learning for students, fellows, researchers and health professionals.

ARCAD supports services and information platforms that strengthen research, care delivery, data access, training and institutional collaboration. Our facilities and platforms help projects, staff, partners, policy makers and the public access reliable resources.
From archives and libraries to conference facilities, research platforms, accommodation and information services, we create the support environment needed for strong health research and quality care.
ARCAD advocates for the rights, visibility and wellbeing of older persons. We use research evidence to support policy reform, community awareness, public engagement and stronger protection systems for aging populations.
Our advocacy work brings together researchers, communities, government, civil society and partners to identify priority needs and promote practical solutions for older persons and vulnerable families.
